here's a quick and simple idea to help you bone up on first aid. buy a BSA hand book. It covers basic first aid and is quite similar to whats covered in the FM21-11, except the NBC stuff. It's a starting place if you can get a hold of nothing else.

There are other good books as well as the Scout Handbook. Where there is no Doctor by Jane Maxwell; the Coast Guard

SURVIVAL, EVASION, AND RECOVERY MULTISERVICE PROCEDURES FOR SURVIVAL, EVASION, AND RECOVERY

FM 21-76-1   MCRP 3-02H   NWP 3-50.3     AFTTP(I) 3-2.26; First Aid

C1, FM 4-25.11 (FM 21-11) NTRP 4-02.1.1  AFMAN 44-163(I)  MCRP 3-02G; Ditch Medicine by Hugh L. Coffee;

These area available online some are free to download from SCRIBD, and if printed out 4 pages to a sheet are manageable to print.
