The 1st Joint Kentucky Militia is a joint venture with various militias from all over the entire state, not just one individual militia or militia command.
All participants have decided to come together to help each other. This site is not meant to be representative of one group is better than the others, or one group attempting to establish a dominance. It is, however, only to be used as a central hub or gathering point for us all to come together and create a way for people to be able to find and contact a group in their local areas.
The Volunteer Militia exists by law under Amendment II of the United States Constitution, U.S.C. 10, Chapter. 13, Section 311 and under the Kentucky Constitution, Section 219.
A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Amendment Two, of the U.S. Constitution.
The Second Amendment recognizes that the Militia's existence and the security of the state ultimately rests in the people; those who volunteer to constitute the Militia and supply their own arms. Fundamentally, it is not the state that defends the people, but the people who defend the state. That is why the Citizen Militia and the citizens' private arms are not legitimate subjects for Federal legislation or regulation - they are Rights of the people that are to be protected and not be infringed. The National Guard is solely the creation of statutory law whereas the Citizen Militia existed before there was a nation or a constitutional form of government!

Written throughout this country's history, embedded within the very Constitution in which we proudly support, given to us under God, along as Americans, EVERY man, woman, and child is created equal regardless of race, creed, color, gender, or religious beliefs.
As an "Unorganized" militia we will assist local and state government in times where manpower has been exhausted. We stand against enemies both foreign and domestic.
What is important to the militia is what is important to all Americans. We are concerned with the health of this nation. Militia members are a cross section of the American people. Many of us have been active in the political realm to voice our opinion to our elected leaders. Our voice has yet to be heard. We come from many backgrounds, not all being military. Everyone is welcomed, and encouraged, to join.

"A man's feet must be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world." -George Santayana
"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."
-Samuel Adams
"The patriot's blood is the seed of Freedom's tree."
-Thomas Campbell
